Dimebag Darrell, Killed In Ohio Concert Shooting
Thursday December 09, 2004
Dimebag Darrell, guitarist for Damageplan and Pantera, was killed during a shooting spree at a Columbus, Ohio, nightclub Wednesday night. He was 38.
Darrell, real name Darrell Abbott, was among the five dead in the incident. Also killed were the gunman, 25-year-old Nathan Gale of nearby Marysville, Ohio, and two fans, Nathan Bray and Erin Halk, according to Columbus Police public information officer Sherry Mercurio.
R.I.P. Dimebag Darrell. He was one of metal's greatest. Where would metal be without his shredding on Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power? Nowhere, that's where.

edit: I just got back from the Remembering Never, Most Precious Blood, Dead To Fall show, and the kind words from the bands for Darrell were quite impressive. Dead To Fall dedicated their entire set to him and Most Precious Blood singer Rob Fusco had a little moment of silence for him. I don't think a room with that many people has ever been as quiet, and it's much deserved for the metal god. I can't imagine what playing a show the day after such an event is like.
