The DVD of the future is being developed according to some researchers and it will be capable of holding 1,000 gigabytes on 4 layers. Keeping in mind current available DVD technology is not even 10 gigabytes on 2 layers this shit is pretty intense. They say it'll hold every single Simpsons episode on one disk, which makes me wet just thinking about it.

The non-lethal weapons, which use high-powered electromagnetic beams, will be fitted to vehicles already in Iraq, which will allow the system to be introduced as early as next year.

I'm a sucker for sweet photography and this satellite image of hurricane Ivan is amazing. I heard today it's a category 5 storm, which is also unheard of. Sucks for florida but what people often take for granted is it's also passing right on top of Jamaica and Cuba. Oh wait, those places aren't in the US, so who cares! Right?

Lately everyone who gets sick immediately thinks they have the dreaded west nile virus. Oh my god and they also have a mosquito bite!! I wanted to compose an entry of the facts to possibly help a few people calm down.
Fact: 2004 total cases: 1191
2004 total deaths: 30

2003 total cases: 9862
2003 total deaths: 264 <-- scary!!

Compare:
During peak season up to 10% fatality rate in flu victims, and it's complications. Now think about how many times you've had the flu. Sure West Nile may be reason enough to take precaution, but to freak out and have news articles every half an hour on tv?

"China beefed up its ongoing crackdown on internet porn on Monday with new rules published that allow courts to issue life sentences to those convicted of posting pornography online.
The measure applied to those guilty of the profit-oriented production and dissemination of pornographic material through the internet, mobile phones and "phone-sex" services, according to the Supreme People's Court website."
Life sentences? I'm not saying I'm really into porn or anything, and lets just pretend that I don't have 13 gigs of it on my hard drive, but come on China. True, it's pretty bad how accessible free pornography is to children on the internet, just the pop-up ads alone provide sneak peeks at what they can get with minimal effort. But to give out a life sentence for trying to make a buck makes me want to puke. And for those people that do like porn you better hope Japan doesn't do something like this, because we all know where the filthiest most wretched porn comes from.
