Their new second gen version of the Inspiron XPS keeps with the out of this world specs and price: $2800 gets you an 8.6-pound beast of a Sonoma-based machine (yeah, they finally switched to Pentium M chips), replete with a new insane 17-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) widescreen TrueLife screen, user-upgradeable 256MB GeForce Go 6800 Ultra graphics, dual channel DDR2 SDRAM, and some LED lighting around the chassis they found in their hearts to shave down to 1.67-inches thick. Oh, and they’re resurrecting an old Dell classic: personalizeable lid covers! Just slap a transparent cover onto the metal lid, and sandwich in your favorite “game imagery.” All that power, and they still resort to gimmicks.
With something this huge you may as well buy a desktop. I mean a 17 inch monitor on a laptop? Don't get me wrong I want one of these, but I could also use another cup of coffee right now and I think that settles it.

Welch broke the news Sunday on Bakersfield, California, station KRAB-FM."I had it in my heart to come here and explain to you," Welch said. "I'm good friends with Korn. I love those guys, and they love me, and they're very happy for me."
Addressing the aggressive tone of the music he made with Korn, Welch said, "Anger is a good thing, and if kids want to listen to Korn, good, but there's happiness after the anger. I'm going to show it through my actions how much I love my fans."

Writer Hunter S. Thompson Kills Himself

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) -- Hunter S. Thompson, the hard-living writer who inserted himself into his accounts of America's underbelly and popularized a first-person form of journalism in books such as "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," has committed suicide.Thompson was found dead Sunday in his Aspen-area home of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, sheriff's officials said. He was 67. Thompson's wife, Anita, had gone out before the shooting and was not home at the time. His son, Juan, found the body.
I'm not going to claim I've read his books, but I definitely know about this man and his influence on literature. It's sad that something like this has to happen for me to suddenly feel the urge to read more of his writings.

The 2005 RUF Porsche Rt 12 Turbo 05 sports twin turbochargers that produce horsepower in the range of 650 and get the body amplified 911 to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds. There are three different turbo stages that also include 530 and 560 hp.

Lokitorrent Shut Down, Along With Your Rights

Illegally downloading movies from sites such as these without proper authorization violates the law, is theft, and is not anonymous. Stealing movies leaves a trail. The only way not to get caught is to stop.
First it was Suprnova, now it's Lokitorrent. Just when you think you've moved on from the last setback they shut down another filesharing site. The odd thing about all this is that they will never stop filesharing. It's not possible. If they were somehow able to block all bittorrent traffic a new client with a new protocol will be created in a matter of hours. They're trying to arrest kids on college campuses to make a statement, shutting down websites, and generally making a scene over something they ultimately won't be able to fix. Where does it end?

Clean Out That Computer You Lazy Bastard!

New evidence suggests that all that dust you allow your computer to collect inside of itself is actually pretty bad for it. I've always heard it wasn't that big of a deal, but it's good to keep it clean for the electrical connections. Turns out it can raise the CPU temp quite a lot, 14 degrees celcius in this case. I definitely know I never, ever, clean out mine.

This isn't new but I thought about it the other day and decided it was worth a repost. A CS professor at Princeton wrote a peer-to-peer filesharing program in just 15 lines of python. It runs on standard HTTP protocol that your web browser uses. He claims this to be proof that banning filesharing is rediculous, and impossible. If it's this easy to create new ones how can it be stopped? I agree.
