Denny Conn's Rye IPA (All Grain)

March 18, 2007

Memorial day came up fast and it was high time for another brew day. In the last couple months I've finally made the all grain leap. I converted a keg into a boil kettle, got a propane burner so I can cook outdoors, and made a mash tun out of a great cooler. All with ball valves and all the fancy gadgets. I'm in love with Rye beers so I decided Denny's Rye IPA would be the perfect first all grain beer. We did well, didn't get great efficiency but have 5 gallons of beer at 1.067 OG fermenting. Actually as I write this it's done fermenting, and will be transferred to secondary in a little less than a week probably. I hope the 1272 Wyeast attenuates as well as it's supposed to so I hit my target final gravity. This beer is going to RULE. Updates to follow after secondary and a few weeks in the bottle.
