Shakespeare Stout Clone (All Grain) - 6.1% ABV

December 19, 2007

Decided it was time to finally bust out a stout. Big fan of Rogue Shakespeare Stout so it was modelled closely after that. I was calling it an Oatmeal stout but in the end it is more within the style guidelines of an American Stout. Tastes Amazing. Lots of chocolate and roast flavors and aromas, quite bitter (may tone this down next time). Considering rebrewing it with a less fruity hop, maybe 10 less IBU and upping the roasted malt just a tad. Scored a 39 and a 40 in the Americas Finest City Homebrew Competition under the American Stout category. With minor adjustments I think I could medal with this beer. Brew it!
